Sámi museum and Nature center

Siida is a central meeting place in Inari, the heart of the Sámi Area in Finland. It is a window on Sámi culture and the diverse nature of Northern Lapland.

The exhibitions of Siida deal with the history and culture of the Sámi and nature in the northernmost Lapland throughout the year. Siida offers the visitor both exciting experiences that appeal to many senses and expert knowledge.

In the summer season, the indoor exhibitions of Siida are complemented by the cozy open-air museum.

Guided tours are arranged in Siida’s permanent exhibitions and, in summer, also in the Open-Air Museum.

In addition to exhibitions, events that focus on culture and nature, as well as seminars, are arranged at Siida.

At Siida, the National Museum of the Finnish Sámi and the Nature Centre of Metsähallitus work together.

The pleasant restaurant Sarrit serves customers on the second floor of Siida and the local tourist information is situated in Siida too.

Nature Center Siida offers recreation info.

Siida - Sámi museum and Nature center

What we offer

The permanent exhibition consists of an introductory and a main exhibition. The visitor experiences the cultural and natural contents of the exhibition as one integrated whole.

The several changing exhibitions give a rhythm to the cycle of seasons in Siida.

In the open-air museum, which is open in summer, the visitor can get acquainted with a range of Sámi dwellings and hunting and fishing methods.

The exhibitions in Siida have been desinged so, that one may visit them unguided or with our guides.

Guided tours are arranged in Siida’s permanent exhibitions and, in summer, also in the Open-Air Museum. We especially recommend our guided tours for groups.

The pleasant restaurant Sarrit and the local tourist information is situated in Siida.

What we are looking for

On Works shop day and during Matka Travel Fair we would like to meet new and also known partners.

As both FIT's guests and groups are warmly welcome to visit Siida, we are happy to meet various tour operators, whom bring or concider to bring guests to Northernmost Lapland.
