Tourism development
Southern Konnevesi National Park, the kingdom of ospreys, is one of the youngest national parks of Finland, founded in September 2014. Since then the annual growth of visits in the park is steadily rising with 47-52% / year and in 2017 is already over 30 000 people.Southern Konnevesi is a destination on the border of Central Finland and Northern Savonia, conveniently situated on the way to Lapland or Northern Norway, only on a 3,5h drive from Helsinki. The airports and railways of Jyväskylä and Kuopio, situated on approx. 1hr drive from the gates of the national park, are also serving the region.
Southern Konnevesi is also famous with its superb fresh water fishing sites - lakes and rapids. Pike, perch, zander and vendace are only some of the fish species to find. The highly endangered mystical wild brown trout is the real underwater king of the region.
Southern Konnevesi tourism is being governed by the municipalities of Rautalampi and Konnevesi as well as Parks & Wildlife Finland. The region suits MICE travellers, small groups (up to 20 people), families and individuals.
During the workshop You can get information about the national park and particular offers of the local service providers. We welcome You to become our partner in building strong sustainable tourism business in Southern Konnevesi!
